Welsh Baccalaureate

November proved to be a very busy month for Year 12 Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate students with the emphasis on politics, democracy and international co-operation. Despite her busy schedule, Mrs. Edwina Hart MBE CStJ AM Minister for Economy, Science and Transport, took part in a question and answer session on 7th November providing the students with a valuable insight into the Welsh Government and the responsibilities of an Assembly Member.

Following a talk in school given by an Education Outreach Officer from the National Assembly, on 24th November students had the opportunity to visit the Senedd in Cardiff for a guided tour.  This was followed by an Assembly lead discussion in the Siambr.

The same day saw Gowerton’s first visit to the European Commission Office in Wales.  We were warmly welcomed by the Head of Office David Hughes who gave us an informative talk on the history of the EU, Wales links to the EU and the work carried out by his office representing EC interests in Wales.
