Roadshows “Education begins at home”!

As part of the Education Begins at Home campaign we are delivering a series of targeted information sharing sessions across Wales.
The ‘Education Begins at Home roadshows’ will visit areas that have been identified as having a strong foot follower and audience in community first areas.

The ‘pilot’ roadshows are being held in supermarket/shopping centres in January 2015 in community first areas of Caerphilly and Wrexham. We have worked with community first cluster managers throughout Wales who have advised that engaging with parents face-to-face is the most effective method of communication.

The roadshows will engage with parents and children and suggest and demonstrate everyday activities at home that will help children do well in school.  A representative from the local Community First team will be present at each roadshow to engage with families and offer advice and support that is available to them in the area.  There will also be a daily prize of shopping vouchers and the information we collate will help us to shape and evolve the ‘Education begins at home’ campaign.

If these roadshows prove to be successful we will look to run additional roadshows in other Community First areas.

Other activity will include:

  • extensive press release campaign across Wales – identifying local schools/ambassadors supporting the campaign
  • targeted outdoor campaign
  • postcards for Doctors surgeries, Citizen Advice Bureau, leisure centres and Communities First
  • TV advert for ITV and S4C – live now on ITV and S4C
  • video on demand
  • changing room door posters
  • campaign website for schools/Communities First to access
  • radio campaign
  • cinema – Literacy/Numeracy.
