LLANGRANNOG RESIDENTIAL – PARENT INFORMATION

Dear Parent / Guardian,

Re:- Llangrannog Welsh Course January 11th – 13t2019

We will be leaving from Gowerton School on the afternoon of the 11th at approximately 12:00pm. We will be travelling with “South Wales Transport” (01792 799575.) Pupils may come to school in normal clothes ready for the trip and can drop their bags off at the Drama Studio first thing in the morning. They can then attend lessons as normal lessons one and two. We will meet in the main hall at 11.15 am after break in order to make sure we are all ready to be on the bus at 12:00pm. We will be leaving before lunch – therefore pupils should bring a packed lunch from home to eat on the bus or the school can provide a packed lunch for those in receipt of free meals upon request.

Much of our time at Llangrannog will be spent outdoors taking part in outdoor pursuits such as horse riding, racing quads, skiing, and swimming. Pupils will need a variety of warm, suitable clothing. A number of light layers will be better than single, heavy items, which will be difficult to dry. A waterproof coat or jacket will be beneficial as would a hat, scarf and gloves. Wellies, although not essential, would be handy for the horse riding and quads as the tracks can get very muddy. Swimwear and a towel will be required. Pupils shouldn’t bring new, expensive items of clothing or trainers as they are likely to get dirty or wet, however, if they wish they may bring a smarter outfit for the last night disco.

Pupils need to bring a sleeping bag and a pillowcase. These should be wrapped in a waterproof bag or placed in the case/holdall. ALL SLEEPING BAGS AND HOLDALLS SHOULD BE CLEARLY LABELLED WITH PUPILS NAME AND SCHOOL.

Medication should be handed in to the teacher clearly labelled with instructions. Members of staff will keep any medication in the medical room and administer as directed.

Very little money is required for the week. There is a small shop that sells sweets, crisps, drinks and small souvenirs. However pupils are discouraged from taking excessive amounts of money in case it gets lost. There is no reception for mobile phones at Llangrannog, therefore pupils are encouraged to leave them at home if possible. Expensive I-pods, cameras and game consoles are also discouraged. These items, if taken will be the pupils responsibility, and taken at their own risk.
