KS3 RUGBY TOUR TO HOLLAND

Over the Easter weekend, the year 7, 8 and 9 rugby squads travelled to Holland for their end of season tour.

A party of 53 staff and pupils set off early on Good Friday and after a long day travelling they arrived at their hotel in the centre of Rotterdam at 10.15pm.

We travelled to the town of Delft and played the local rugby club.

A combined year 7 and 8 team defeated the hosts 38-17. Ethan Lee (2), Adam Williams, Alex Graham-Woollard, John Edwards and Connor Williams scored tries. Alex Hughes kicked 3 conversions and Gavin Williams added another.

A combined year 8 and 9 team lost 34-20 despite Tom Barrington, Matthew Newcombe, Jacob Williams and Mabon Kaniewski all crossing for tries.

After the game the hosts treated us to a reception which was followed by presentations of Delft RFC playing socks to our players of the match; Matthew Davies and Leon Bevan.

We then returned to Rotterdam where we spent the evening.

On the Sunday, we travelled to the Hilversum festival – at the end of the day we had achieved a very creditable 2nd place.

The party travelled to the Duinrell theme Park on Monday and on their return to Rotterdam went for a squad meal in the ‘Very Italian’ Pizza restaurant.

We travelled home on Tuesday arriving back in Park Road at just after 7.00pm to be met by expectant parents glad to have their sons returned home safely.
