The second year for Gowerton to achieve GREEN categorisation!

As you probably know, the Welsh Government National Categorisation of Schools was published on Thursday 28th January 2016.  We were awarded a Green categorisation, which describes us as a Highly Effective School.

This is the second year that we have achieved this outstanding outcome.

Categorisation is only one measure of how well a school is doing.  ESTYN inspectors in 2011 described us as a school with Good standards and Excellent prospects for improvement.

These descriptors are achieved by the hard work of pupils, staff, parents and the Governing Body.  It is this partnership which makes Gowerton an excellent learning community.  My thanks go to everyone who works with us to ensure Gowerton remains a ‘Highly Effective School’ for the pupils we serve.

HIGHLY EFFECTIVE SCHOOLS

  • Have a track record in sustaining a high level of outcomes
  • Know themselves well and identify and implement priorities
  • Demonstrate resilience at all levels
  • Are rewarded with greater autonomy
  • Will be challenged to move towards or maintain excellence
  • Have the capacity to lead and to contribute to support
