Cross Country Success

A team of twelve runners took part in the county trials at Margam Park on 14th January 2015. It was a very cold and muddy afternoon but, despite the conditions, our athletes performed brilliantly. In Year 7, Ethan Lee (7DR) came first out of all the schools in the Afan Nedd region, whilst Adam Williams (7DR) also received a letter to run for the county, coming in the top twelve. Betsan Gates, (7OM), narrowly missed out on an invitation. Ben Petherbridge (8EM) came third overall in the Year 8 & 9 boys’ combined race an amazing result, whilst Harry Diamond (9CW) again only just missed out on a county place. Chris Packham (10MF) finished the afternoon for Gowerton in style by coming in fourth place in the combined Year 10 14 Boys’ race can’t wait to see more from him in the future! Special mention to all the others too Matthew Davies (7DR), William Arnold (8LS), Kieran Helliwell (8EM), Saadia Abubaker (8DS), Chris Morgan (9JRT) and James Hicks (9TBD) we all cheered on our team members and brought lots more mud home with us than we expected but most importantly we enjoyed the event and ended the day with big smiles all round.

Congratulations to all competitors!
