Coronavirus and School Trips – Information from the Local Authority

Dear Parent/Carer,

Public Health Wales is the lead agency in Wales responding to Coronavirus.

Recently, despite the risk remaining low, there’s been media attention focused on planned school trips.

Swansea Council is advising all schools in the city to follow the latest professional advice from Public Health Wales and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office with regards travel destinations.

This advice is being constantly monitored and schools are being notified of any changes.

Parents can of course choose to withdraw their child from the trip.

However, unless the government states that trips abroad should not go ahead, the advice we have received is that insurance would not cover cancelled trips. But even then, insurers would still consider each case individually before determining if they would pay out.

 Cofion/Regards
