Gowerton year 7: 48 Pontarddulais: 0

Gowerton’s year 7 rugby team hosted Pontarddulais at the Elba in the last 8 of the Swanseaschools’ cup and advanced confidently into the semi final when they crossed for eight unanswered tries. Man of the match was hooker Rhys Flower and other forwards to impress for the hosts were No.8 Tim Perkins, flanker Jacob Rees and prop Mabon Kaniewski. Star of the show was centre Ben Petherbridge whose elusive running allowed him to score 4 tries. The other tries came from centre Oliver Bruce, prop Connor Williams and flankers Alex Jones and Kieran Helliwell. Scrum half Jac Simons, full back Matthew Newcombe, fly half Charlie Smith and Petherbridge added a conversion apiece. Pontarddulais competed strongly throughout and were well served by centre Dovydas Gricius who defended stoutly and fly half Tom Davies who battled hard. At forward captain and hooker Nathan Beniamous carried well whilst debutant Callum James impressed with his strong running.
Gowerton now host Olchfa in the semi final.
