Nine star performance from yr 8.
The year 8 rugby team travelled to Pontarddulais in determined mood after last week’s defeat against Penyrheol as a result they produced an excellent performance that saw them score nine tries.
The visitors were well served at half back by Patrick Langdon-Dark and Ioan Thomas who linked well and gave their outside backs plenty of opportunities to show their skills. Centre Sam Cambriani created 3 tries with his elusive running and assured handling and his co-centre Sean Collins ran great angles all game. Forwards, Declan Duckworth, Joe Brightkey, Jack Soprunuik and Jacob Ireland all carried well. Max Treharne played scrum half after half time and looked very lively breaking through on a number of occasions.
Gowerton’s tries were scored by centre Collins (5), wings Adam Fielding and Lewis Davies and flankers Jack Soprunuik, and Joe Brightkey.
Centre Cambriani kicked three conversions and wing Davies added a fourth.
Gowerton’s forwards drive in to their opponents.
Despite the score line, the Pontarddulais team played some enterprising rugby with lock Callum Davies and prop Morgan Griffiths both carrying well, whilst Josh Givelin-Davies defended strongly. The hosts were rewarded with tries for flanker and captain Jack Jenkins and No. 8 Chad Bowling.

King and Jones grab a brace each to put yr 7 in the driving seat.
The year 7 team travelled to Pontarddulais keen to put last week’s defeat to Penyrheol behind them. It was the visitors who made the early running when swift handling allowed centre James Northey to free wing Jack Cosker and he crossed for a try in the 6th minute that was converted by scrum half Iwan Jones.
Three minutes later the impressive Jones whose swift pass and accurate kicking earned him the man of the match award scored a fine try of his own when he sprinted in from the base of a ruck on the home teams ‘22’. Jones added the extras.
Gowerton look for a weakness in the Pontarddulais defence.
Pontarddulais were always competitive and were well led by strong running centre Lewis Gibbs, while hooker Cameron Ellias worked tirelessly and full back Elliot Briskham posed a threat with ball in hand.
But it was Gowerton who increased their lead when lock Tom King grabbed tries in the 17th and 25th minutes to extend Gowerton’s lead. The first came when he was driven over following a maul in which No.8 Garin Thomas was prominent and the second came after good work from lock Harri Ford.
But back came Pontarddulais and they responded with tries of their own by flanker Jake Jones and No.8 Cameron Davies in the 28th and 35thminutes.
