Smith’s dash allows year 7 to maintain their winning run at Morriston.
Gowerton’s year 7 team travelled to Morriston buoyed by the confidence gained from victories over Llangatwg and Bryngwyn.
The visitors held the advantage in the forward exchanges with hooker and man of the match Rhys Flower, No.8 Tim Perkins, flanker Josh Thomas and props John Edwards and Mabon Lloyd-Kaniewski all doing well at the breakdown, but Morriston had powerful ball carriers in No.8 Dylan Rees-Davies and centre Danny Devey. Fly half Ben Milsom was an elusive counter attacker.
Man of the match: Rhys Flower attempts to win possession.
The game was keenly contested with defences on both sides on top. For the visitors, wing Alex Jones, centre Ben Petherbridge, fly half Joel Matuschke, No.8 Perkins and hooker Flower all produced impressive tackles, whilst Morriston were similarly well served by No.8 Rees-Davies and centre Devey.
The game was still scoreless as it entered the final 10 minutes and was decided by an excellent piece of combined work by Gowerton’s captain Matuschke and scrum half Charlie Smith. Matuschke’s strong tackle led to a loose ball on half way and Smith reacted quickly to scoop it up and sprint 50 metres to score a try that captain Matuschke converted.

Morriston pressed for an equalising score but Gowerton’s defence held firm and at full time they had retained their lead.
