Under 14 Welsh Cup final.
On Tuesday 1st May, the Gowerton year 9 rugby team went to Parc Y Scarlets to play Glantaf comprehensive from Cardiffin the U 14 Welsh Cup final. The game kicked off at 10.45am. Gowerton played in white and Glantaf played in blue. There were great performances in the first 13 minutes from the squad, including great runs from the backs and Jordan Liney.

Gowerton were close to scoring a try at 19 minutes. Gowerton were also close to the try line after 23 minutes, there was a fantastic run from Phil Jones.

On 27 minutes, the first try was scored from Keelan Giles, unfortunately the conversion was missed giving Gowerton a 5 point lead. There were some good catches from Morgan Morris, Will Jones and the rest of the team.

There was a foul from Aled Ward (captain of Glantaf) and this landed him in the sin-bin. During half time, Gowerton made some substitutions, Callum Lewis came off for Milo Fleming, Jacob Clark swaps his place with Ethan Harris, Jamie Hurlow changes with Olly Smith.

After half time on 34 minutes a try by Philip Jones and the conversion kicked by Tom Howell, 12-0 to Gowerton. There was a close try at 37 minutes for Gowerton, there were a few lineouts all thrown with skill from Dafydd Williams.

There was a brilliant run from Jack Cambriani and a penalty to Glantaf kicked by Nathan Mathias making the score 12-3.
After this was great scrum work from all the forwards, a try from Morgan Morris and conversion from Tom Howell making the score 19-3 to Gowerton. The whole team created excellent support for the ball-carrier. A try from Tom Jones for Glantaf was converted by Nathan Mathias making the score 19-10.

A brilliant run from Keelan Giles after 49 minutes and try by Jordon Liney but the conversion was missed making it 24-10 to Gowerton. There were some phenomenal tackles from the squad.
There were great chase-ups from Will Jones and Jack Cambriani and the rest of the squad.

To celebrate, the team performed what they call the ‘bowling ball’. Then the team enjoyed their well deserved ice bath which proved too cold for some.
