Welcome to the academic year of 2017/2018
We look forward to sharing information, successes, events and community news in the year ahead.
Congratulations to our KS4 and 5 pupils in their examination results. At A’level 100% of pupils achieved the University courses they had applied for. We wish them all the very best in their future.
At GCSE we had some exceptional results and our 5A/A* were the ‘best ever’ .
Our next newsletter will concentrate on further details and successes regarding the results.
Events to look forward to this half term include:
Information evenings:
Year 12 – 21st September 18.00
This short, informal meeting will allow Year 12 parents the opportunity to gain general information from our KS5 co-ordinator Mrs Sara Thomas and the 6th form team.
Year 7 – October 3rd 17.00
This will focus on literacy, numeracy and digital competency skills and will show ways in which parents can support year 7 pupils at home.
Year 6 Open events
Open evening – Tuesday 10th October 2017
This event from 18.30 – 20.00 will give parents a guided tour of the school with activities in each subject area. A short presentation and opportunity for questions will end the evening.
Open morning – Thursday 12th October 2017
This event from 08.50 – 10.30 will give parents a guided tour of the school visiting a variety of different lessons. There will be an opportunity for questions and a short presentation after the tour.
UNIFORM
Wearing the correct school uniform is an important aspect of Gowerton School life. We wish pupils to be proud of wearing the school badge and continuing with the 121 year tradition of the school.
We hope all parents will support us in encouraging pupils to wear the correct uniform. If further information is required please see the appropriate section on the school website or contact the school.
