Dear Parent/Carer,
WW1 Battlefields, Ypres in Belgium and the Somme
Friday 19th April – Sunday 21st April 2024
I am organising a trip for Year 9 to Ypres, Belgium in April 2024 to visit the WW1 battlefields and experience the last post at the Menin Gate. In Year 9, we study WW1 and how it affected many lives across Europe for generations.
The provisional itinerary is as follows:
Friday 19th April 2024
Saturday 20th April 2024
Sunday 21st April 2024
The cost of the trip is £400 which includes insurance and all activities mentioned in the itinerary. All food is in the price and a hoodie is included.
If your child is interested, a deposit of £150 will start to be taken from:
MONDAY, 18TH SEPTEMBER – NO DEPOSITS WILL BE TAKEN BEFORE THEN
Please bring in cash or cheques (NO ONLINE PAYMENTS). All cheques should be made payable to Gowerton School. Please make sure that pupil’s names are on the back of each cheque and taken to the main office. Deposits are not refundable. Medical forms will be sent out at a later date.
Payments will be due in the following THREE instalments:
The week beginning Monday 18/09/23 – latest Friday 20/10/23 – £150

The week beginning Monday 04/12/23- latest Friday 15/12/23 – £100
The week beginning Monday 05/02/24- latest Friday 16/02/24 – £150

Places will be allocated on a first come – first served basis and we do have a limited capacity of 40 SPACES. Once the spaces are filled, we will not accept any other deposits but will add names to a waiting list. Consent letters can be collected and returned to Mr G Payne in B3.
Conduct/Behaviour – please note that if your child conduct in school falls below expectations leading up to the trip, we reserve the right to withdraw them and offer their place to another pupil on the waiting list. We also ask for parents/carers full support in ensuring that your child during the school trip, will accept all rules, regulations and sanctions as detailed in the school rules.
