This month we were successful in winning Siarter Iaith Aur (Gold) Award. We are the first school in Swansea and the second secondary school in Wales to achieve this award. Our Criw Cymraeg is a group of pupils that have worked hard to produce educational videos on the locality and have promoted the Welsh language throughout the local community. Our pupils have produced information videos on the history of the railway in Gowerton, the brickworks in Dunvant, the rugby club in Waunarlwydd and the industry and docklands in Swansea. The pupils also spent time in the local community teaching Welsh in Cwm Ivy café, Dunvant farm shop and Llanrhidian community café. The whole community has contributed to this excellent achievement. Although we have achieved the award this is just the beginning! The pupils are already looking for more opportunities to work with the community. A trip to Rhossili is planned to learn about Edgar Evans and Antarctic exploration.
