Gowerton Vs Pontarddulais
Today we travelled to Pontarddulais school for a triangle tournament against Pontarddulais and Penyrheol. Our team was:
C – Millie Hughes (captain)
GA – April Jones
GS –Rebecca Willet
GD – Eloushka Godsmark (Vice-captain)
GK –Eva Rees
WD – Isla Rees
WA – Ellie Pearce-Morgan
After losing to Penyrheol in a tough match before hand, we were determined to learn from our mistakes and not let it knock our confidence. We got off to a good start with a strong first centre pass from captain, Millie, caught by WA Ellie, unfortunately it was later intercepted by Pontarddulais and they scored their first goal. This however gave us more determination and by half time we managed to get 3 goals in after some excellent shooting from April and Rebecca and the score was 3-1 to us.
The second half, we stepped onto the court focused and ready to go with some helpful advice from Mrs Davies. In training, we have been practising finding space and balancing when catching and throwing the ball so we don’t get blown up for foot faults. Some great interceptions were made, good defence from Eva, Eloushka and Isla, more good shooting from Becca and April and fantastic teamwork and communication meant that we won the game with a final score of 5-3 to Gowerton.
Woman of the match, Eloushka Godsmark was congratulated. We all feel as if we played very well and are very proud of our Year 9 Netball team and excited for upcoming matches.
