Welcome to another year at Gowerton School – and a special warm ‘Welcome’ to parents of our newest students and pupils in Year 7 and Year 12. Whilst looking forward to our exciting New Year challenges, it would be wrong to forget to look back as well and celebrate the success that was 2013-2014. As a community, we achieved our best ever GCSE results – yet again! Our Super Sixth Formers achieved outstanding outcomes in getting into University or going on to apprenticeships or employment.
And the story continues – as I write, I look out of my office window and see our 1st XI football squad training, Girls’ rugby practice and Year 8 rugby training, whilst upstairs our Year 11 Maths Club is in full swing – at 3.30 p.m. on a Thursday afternoon.
With banding gradually being made redundant as a measure of success in education, we at Gowerton continue with our core task. With your support, the children and teachers work hard, go that ‘extra mile’ in our traditional values and ‘always do our best’. However we are judged, we know that we are doing ‘The Right Thing’, as we have been for the past 116 years.
Could parents please make a point of checking Pupil Planners at least once a fortnight – including in Year 11!
Ask your children NOT to contact you during the school day. Most difficulties can be dealt with in school and virtually all problems that seem insurmountable at the time actually aren’t!
Is your e-mail address and mobile number correct on our systems? Please inform Mrs Jennings in Pupil Records know if you change any of your details, including your home address.
Uniform trousers are not tight or stretch fabric. There is a photo on our school website if you are not sure what they should look like.
Please provide change for the catering machines, NOT paper money. Pupils are not to ask for change in the offices.
Please put your child’s initials and registration form inside ALL school uniform items so that lost items can be returned easily and quickly.
