Eighty years ago, 1935, two Gowertonians from Penclawdd will always be remembered for beating the All Blacks when playing for Swansea. Those of us, of a certain age, will always remember Tanner and Davies. What did the All Blacks captain say, “Don’t tell the folks back home, that we were beaten by schoolboys!”
This weekend, another two Gowertonians from Penclawdd, also in school at the same time, were honoured for their contributions to the world of music – Karl Jenkins and Tony Small. The school continues to maintain the production line of academics, world class sportspeople, world famous musicians and proud former pupils. Dr. Alan Jones, Chairman.
