Five try Year 7 triumph at Elba.
Gowerton year 7 entertained Pontarddulais at the Elba and despite the bitterly cold conditions and strong crosswind the two sides produced some excellent rugby.
The hosts were on the front foot from the outset with man of the match, lock Liam Butler, hooker Owen Parry and flankers Adam Williams and Ryan Stagg all competing strongly in the contact area and blessed with a constant stream of possession half backs Matthew Davies and Gavin Williams were able to release their outside backs regularly.

Gowerton opened the scoring in the 4th minute when No.8 Teigue Williams benefited from the fine approach work of full back Sam Cartwright to score out wide.
The visitors looked certain to open their account in 10th minute when centre Mason Scannell powered his way towards the Gowerton line only to be denied by a great cover tackle by full back Cartwright.
It was the hosts who scored next in the 13th minute when lock Butler freed centre Ethan Lee on half way and he outpaced the cover to score in the corner. Lee scored his second try in the 22nd minute when hooker Parry stole a scrum against the head 10 metres out. No.8 Williams picked up and drove into the heart of the defence before feeding his centre who strode over.
With the final move of the half good approach work by fly half Williams freed wing William Siford-Price and he was strong enough to ground the ball despite the efforts of two defenders.

While Gowerton had dominated the first period, the visitors came out with renewed resolve after the break and dominated territory with prop Ethan Goslett, flanker Ben Williams and No.8 James Williams all prominent in the forward exchanges whilst scrum half Josh Hodge, centre Steffan Elias and full back Shay Rees all carried a threat with ball in hand. The fact that they were unable to cross Gowerton’s line was down to the good defensive work of locks Butler and Isaac Clark and flankers Stagg and Alex Graham-Woollard.
In the 40th minute it was against the run of play that more good work by Gowerton’s No.8 Williams released wing Keiron Bevan in his 22 and he showed real pace to sprint 70 metres to score a try that fly half Alex Hughes converted.
Ethan Lee rounds the last defender to score his second try.
The visitors deservedly had the final say when powerful work by their forwards allowed prop Goslett to score.
Next week year 8 host Cefn Hengoed at the Elba in the Swansea schools’ cup-3pm kick off.
