The school was privileged to hold a Gower Festival concert performed by the London Brass Ensemble. It was an outstanding concert and especially touching that one of the 5 players, Gareth Small, is an ex
pupil of Gowerton.
A masterclass for pupils was given the next morning. The brass band performed, conducted by Gareth Small, and individual masterclasses were given. Jacob Clark, yr 12, had the opportunity of working with the
Principal trombonist of the Philarmonic Orchestra, a rare and valuable experience.
Also during that same week a group of 6th formers from Chetham’s School of Music performed a concert for music pupils from yr 10 – 13. All enjoyed the high standard of performance and the variety of pieces, including a tuba player beat boxing was unique!
