If you have a son or daughter in Year 7 or 8 who enjoys writing stories, please encourage them to enter this competition! 500 WORDS asks children aged 13 and under up and down the UK to put pen to paper to compose an original work of fiction using no more than 500 words. Children will be able to submit their stories via the entry form on the 500 WORDS website at bbc.co.uk/500words, where you can also find all the details. You can read last year’s shortlisted stories online and watch videos of wellknown writers giving helpful tips to encourage all our budding creative writers. The competition is open to children up to the age of 13 and the closing date for entries, which must be sent online, is 26th February and until 4.20 p.m. for those who may not have access to a computer at home. The school library computer area is available at break and lunchtimes.
For further details please see Mrs L. Smith in the school library.
