Gowerton old boys gets school’s rugby fans to the final.
Mr Rod Bowen, Business Development Director of eteach.com is thanked by year 9 rugby captain Will Jones for his sponsorship. Also present are Headteacher, Peter Harrison and vice-captain Philip Jones.
Gowerton Schoolin Swansea were delighted when their rugby team won through to the finals in the Welsh Schools’ Rugby Cup. There was only one problem – they couldn’t afford to hire coaches to get the team’s supporters – 600 KS3 pupils from the school itself and even more from its feeder primaries – to the match.
Help was at hand in the form of Rod Bowen, who as well as working for Eteach, the UK’s leading onsite school recruitment service, is a Gowerton old boy. As soon as Rod heard about the problems with transport he decided that Eteach should pay for the necessary coaches: “I played rugby for Gowerton, Rod said, “and remember the difference having fans to cheer us on made to the team. I felt Eteach had to help.” Eteach founder Paul Howells was happy to help – he too is a Gowerton old boy!
Kevin Lockett, head of PE at Gowerton, said:”We’re all excited that Gowerton has made the final and appreciate Eteach helping our supporters get there. We want both team and supporters to learn all sorts of life and sporting lessons from this great experience – from developing a respect for other communities, to remaining silent while the other team attempts a kick at goal and applauding when they play well.”
In 2013 the team is touring Australia and Hong Kong. Eteach plans to support the players again and will be proud to have its logo on the team’s rugby shirts.
