Early morning call at 7.30am.
Breakfast at 8.00am.
We are packed and in reception by 8.50am. The bus takes us to the airport by 9.30am for our flight to Hong Kong that departs at 12.50pm.
Check in and security takes longer than previously. Cairns is a smaller town than Swansea with a population of 150,000. Its airport is not as large as some of the others we have been at and with 4 international flights going out during the morning it takes two hours for us to check in and then pass through security. Once in departures we have 45 minutes before boarding to get a drink and something to eat.
We board and take off on time. Our flight will be a relatively short one-only 7 hours!!!!
We’ll make up for it on the Hong Kong to London leg with nearly 13 hours in the air.
Once in the air, we enjoy lunch of; starter, chicken, carrot and cucumber salad, a main course of braised chicken and beef followed by banana cake with chopped almonds.
Two hours before landing, we have a roasted chicken pesto and cheese sandwich followed by mango and vanilla ice cream sherbet. They are both very nice.
We land at 5.50pm local time and have to wait six and a half hours for our connecting flight to Heathrow. We are due to take off at half past midnight local time.
