Cefn Hengoed year 7: 24 Gowerton year 7: 15
Great effort from year 7, but they end up just short.
Year 7 rugby travelled up to a cold and blustery Bonymaen RFC to play a much bigger and stronger Cefn Hengoed team.
The boys produced a sterling team performance with some excellent defensive work from robust forwards; Jake Brophy, Harvey Thomas and Dogukan Yildrim. They were supported in attack with Joseph Wright (prop) and Rhodri Davies (flanker).
In the backline Gowerton had the upper hand with slick running backs, Sam John and Scott Bennett delivered some crisp passes to allow the outer backs Matthew Pewsey, Finn Sutton and James Thomas to enjoy some space.
Tries from Gowerton came from the elusive running of Matthew Pewsey and Cian Jones. The try of the game being produced from a clever chip ahead from much improved captain Harvey Thomas which Matthew gathered just after half way to scamper over.
The squad was bolstered this week with the appearance of Ashton Jenkins, Ashton Healey, Corey Murphy and Cian Jones who were all making their debut.
