Impressive Gowerton off to a nine try winning Welsh cup start.
Gowerton got their Welsh cup league programme off to a flying start when they travelled to Bryntawe. The team produced a confident and skilful performance that saw them cross for nine unanswered tries.
The game kicked off in bright sunshine and with underfoot conditions good and the air conditions breathless, everything was set fair for open running rugby.

Gowerton were in front in the 3rd minute when No.8 Jack Cambriani won a good turnover-this allowed prop Morgan Morris to burst through the defensive line and his offload allowed centre Jamie Hurlow to cross for a try that co-centre Tom Howell converted.
The lead was doubled 3 minutes later when a powerful drive by prop Steffan Gibbon freed wing Steffan Tyrrell and his pass allowed centre Howell to cross for a try he converted himself. Howell then grabbed a second try of his own in the 8th minute, when another powerful Gibbon run released him 40 metres out and he outpaced the defence to score a try that went unconverted.
Wing Dominic Greeno demonstrates excellent passing-long arms, fingers pointed towards the target. It’s no wonder we won, with such impressive skills.
With confidence high after this good start, the visitors now displayed their full range of skills-powerful running, accurate passing and most impressively the ability and willingness to offload to better placed team mates rather than go into contact. To the fore in this respect was the back row of Will Jones, Jack Cambriani and man of the match Rhys Evans who all carried strongly but were constantly looking to link with others. In the 17th minute a powerful Cambriani run and an offload from flanker Evans allowed wing Steffan Tyrrell to score.
Gowerton completed the half on a high when a misdirected kick from the hosts was gathered by full back Keelan Giles he set off on a counter attack that eventually saw him cross for his team’s fifth try that left them leading 29-0 at the break.
Both teams made a number of replacements at half time, but the changes didn’t appear to affect Gowerton’s rhythm and in the 27th minute a great tackle by flanker Jones allowed hooker Luke Snell to win possession and centre Jordan Richards crossed for an unconverted try. Three minutes later, another powerful run by Cambriani allowed prop Morris to score a try that fly half Philip Jones converted.
In the last quarter, the visitors added further tries in the 36th minute when hooker Snell crossed and then on the final whistle when excellent combined play from the back row of Cambriani, Evans and Jones allowed scrum half Callum Lewis the space to pick up and drive over.
The team travel to play Christ College Brecon in a friendly on Wednesday.
